Geffen (NL) ? Alex Global Technology Inc. lanceert voor 2008 een omvangrijk (co-) sponsor programma als onderdeel van haar strategie om een leidende positie in de markt van wielen en velgen te verwerven

Daarnaast zal Alex, één van de meest innovatieve wiel- en velgfabrikanten ter wereld zal haar marketing activiteiten in Europa verder vergroten middels een dealerondersteuning programma en logistieke veranderingen.

Sportsponsoring
Voor alle Europese landen wordt er in 2008 een omvangrijk sponsor en co-sponsorprogramma gelanceerd. Teams en rijders spelen een cruciale rol in de ontwikkeling, testen en verbeteren van de producten. De sponsoractiviteiten worden vanuit Alex Europa in samenwerking met de verschillende landen geco?rdineerd. Alex is op zoek naar top teams en toprijders /rijdsters in alle disciplines (race, mountainbike XC, downhill, freeride, 4X, freestyle BMX en BMX race). Aanmelden kan per mail in Engels vergezeld met een volledig CV aan info@pointbike.nl.

Dealersupport – technisch dealerboek
Ook op dealerniveau wordt er gewerkt aan technische informatie en service boeken. Deze informatie voorziet in een onderhoud en reparatie handboek met daarin de verschillende specificaties van de wielen.

Europees magazijn
Vanaf volgend jaar zal in Duitsland een Europees magazijn in gebruik genomen worden om de verschillende Europese distributeurs nog sneller te kunnen voorzien van wielen, velgen en reserve onderdelen.

Singlespeeding to save your live…

My back still hurts, I must be so out of shape. I can’t believe it. It’s been crazy at work lately, so I can’t remember the last time I was on the bmx, but I know I did a lap in Nijmegen on the singlespeed only 3 weeks ago. Not that bad, right? Last sunday I entered a race of the winterseries my club is organizing. One race a month.

I was the only one on a singlespeed and I was so pleased that the first lap was on asphalt [insert sarcastic smug]. Obviously I was allready grinding my teeth before the first corner… that I passed last. Joy! The first lap offroad I needed to warm up again and next lap I was finally getting somewhere. Felt good on the singletrails and I managed to power climb the few uphills the course had. The best feeling!

I got cought up by the leading men in the 4th lap and first woman in the 5th. I figured I didn’t have to do the final 6th lap, but I was wrong. I plowed my way through that last lap. My back was painfully stiff and I was getting tired. With grinding my teeth and the one gear I had, I made it to the finishline. Yeah… oops, they didn’t mean to forget to finish me a lap sooner, but they did ;-) Oh well. It was good fun and I’m actually not that badly out of shape. I’ll keep the singlespeed workouts up this winter and these races. And I’ll surprise them in the end… If they’d only skip that foolish asphalt sprint!!

Greg Minnaar Syndicated!

Greg Minnaar joins Santa Cruz’ Syndicated team.

This team now features three world class downhill riders, with Minnaar joining Rennie and Peat. If you ask me: they couldn’t have picked better riders. My three favorite riders. Peat was once asked what he admired about Minnaar and he said “wouldn’t mind a tailwhip like his”. I couldn’t agree more… Rennie now also made a funny statement: “Looks like there are going to be three naked 6’ 3” men in the back of Steve’s van this year. I had enough trouble understanding Steve’s accent…. Welcome, and oh, by the way, that’s my sandwich Greg.” Is this SC’s ultimate wapon to stop Iron Horse’s World Championship range? My money is still on Peaty.

Europe’s biggest Freeride Festival takes place from may 23rd to 25th in Winterberg, Germany

The iXS Dirt Masters Festival enters year two: Next may Germany´s greatest bike park in Winterberg will be the host for
Gravity riders from all over the world. In the center of the festival will be three of the biggest and most successful mountainbike gravity events, which started last year for the first time at this festival:

The Cut Slopestyle Contest
The Cannondale „The Cut“ Slopestyletour started 2006 in Germany and is publics favorite. At „The Cut“ Slopestyle Contest
amateurs and pros will compete.

iXS German Downhill Cup
Downhill racing at its best presented by iXS-sports-division and the mountainbike rider magazine. The cup exists with five
single international races. The Prelude run 2008 will be held at the iXS Dirt Masters festival.

Scott 4X Challenge
4 racers at the same time on a track with big jumps. De luxe racing of the world’s best riders elbow to elbow.

Top pro racers and amateur riders from all around the world will compete and show the crowd spectacular tricks, tramendous
speed and great race action.

In the iXS Dirt Masters expo area companies will have again the opportunity to present their products to a huge bicycle interested audience. In 2008, the expo area will be enlarged. On top there will be additional entertainment in the iXS Dirt Masters Rockzone with extraordinary live bands and lots more.

Over 20,000 spectators, 1,000 competitors out of 20 nations und 105 exhibitors experienced the premier event in may 2007.
The resonance was impressive. There was never such an interest in a contest like this before. There won’t be an entrance fee.

Dirtmag.co.uk just posted a blogpost on pumptracks. Dirt issue #69 featured and article on pumptracks. This blog post has 7 excellent video’s, it’ll surely inspire you to run outside and build your own. And if you do, you should also download Lee McCormacks eBook “Welcome to pump track nation”. I’ve posted a little blogpost on that last year.

Bright Crashcourse Freeriding

Last sunday I visited the Filthy Trails with the Bright.tv crew and today you can see the result of a day’s hard work (blink-wink-whatever). Linda did a great job trying to get into that freeride thing and it’s a nice clip. If you take a good look, you see the Trailjunkies fly by aswell!
