Some thoughts on the Flatline [mini review]

While my Switch was being detailed, tweaked and tuned, I had the pleasure of going out with the all new Flatline. Unfortunately due to the weather I didn’t have the chance to go out on a downhill trip. Just local trail-rides. But since Rocky cancelled the Switch, it thought it would be more then justifiable to see if the Flatline holds on that terrain. The Flatline was setup in short-travel mode for this review. Stuff I've been enjoying this week

Khyber ride

Chris Akrigg and his Mongoose Khyber. Now I know again why I like these Mongoose bikes so much. Even when they have awefull colours.

Farmer Jack

This one is so funny, you have to watch this one. The Atherton family goes out for a ride and run into the landowner, Farmer Jack.

Willingen flow ride

I’ve been dying to go to Willingen and I hope to get there very soon. Wanna see why?

Rocky Mountain Bicycles 2008 Gravity Team

Source: Pinkbike.com

Vancouver, B.C. Geoff Gulevich signs a two year contract with Rocky Mountain Bicycles. This recently inked deal will see the Rocky Mountain Bicycles Team begin a new era of freeride. Geoff Gulevich (N. Vancouver) along with Kyle MacDonald (Whistler) and Andrew Sherry (Vancouver Island) will follow the big footsteps put down by Wade Simmons the “godfather of freeride”.

Rocky Mountain Bicycles has been an industry leader in the freeride/mountain bike industry since it’s inception in 1986. “Working closely with our athletes has always allowed us to develop the best bicycles possible, we are really excited with our team for this year”, said product manager Tim Mcdermott.

Wade as leader of the freeride team and long time legend will travel and supervise the burgeoning careers of these three young riders. Looking to spread his wings and expand his horizons Wade will be working more closely than ever with media and the inside team back at home base – Rocky Mountain Bicycles.

Geoff is one of the best young freeride talents in the world and he has appeared in many movies including New World Disorder, The Collective, and North Shore Extreme and is always a force at freeride events.

Kyle, is one of the youngest protégés to ever hit the slopestyle scene, he qualified 15th in 2006 at Crankworx Whistler.

Andrew Sherry a young up and comer from Vancouver Island will be hitting the slopes hard with his teammates and looking to learn a few new tricks.

Look for these Rocky Mountain Athletes to be hitting the slopes and movie screens throughout the summer and fall of 2008. Schedule of major events to include; Crankworkx Whistler, Crankworkx Colorado, Freeraid, Saalbach, Qashqai, Claw Invitational.

Upcoming: Lezyne

Because I am an editor for Mountainbike.nl, I got invited to next weeks exclusive press event for Lezyne (rhymes with design). Micki Kozuschek, former owner and initiator of Truvativ, will show his new stuff. The new stuff can also be found online, you can download their catalog here. Lezynes tag-line is “Organize yourself“, and I am a sucker for it. The GTD geek in me jumps up and want to know all about it. Oh, and having a bag-fetish doesn’t help eighter!

Quote from Lezyne.com: “The Lezyne Allpack maximizes storage, organization, and comfort. Specially tailored compartments accommodate tools, accessories, armor, your mp3 player, and up to six litres of water. The Float Y shoulder strap enhances comfort and adjustability to a double-padded rear panel with our Vectorflow ventilation system. An adjustable helmet strap fits all sizes, including full face models.”

Happy new year!

To all the best wishes for a great year to come. With plenty good bikerides with your mates!

Win een Dakine Nomad (en meer goodies)

For dutch residents only!

Continue reading →

Bright Crashcourse Freeriding

Last sunday I visited the Filthy Trails with the Bright.tv crew and today you can see the result of a day’s hard work (blink-wink-whatever). Linda did a great job trying to get into that freeride thing and it’s a nice clip. If you take a good look, you see the Trailjunkies fly by aswell!
