2008 Rocky Mountain Bikes Catalogue (int.)

Brilliance always comes late

Yesterday I finally got around to visit the Filthy Trails, and I brought the Bright.nl/crashcourse crew with me. Host Linda Hakeboom took a crash course freeriding. This wednesday you’ll see the result of her first even mountainbike experience. Big kudo’s ofcourse for that being freeride! In the clip I’ll show Linda some skills and I try to vent some intelligent speak on the subject freeriding. On my way home ofcourse I thought of the smart and funny things to say. Here’s a pic taken by Filthy Trails-builer Styles: the cameraguy ducks away, in an atempt to get some action footage. By the way, the Filthy Trails are awesome trails, wonderfully constructed. Three lines so far, each with some nice jumps, berms or northshore bits to entertain yourself with.

The renewal of Pinkbike.com

Did you guys have the chance to take a good look at the new Pinkbike.com? It’s kinda awesome! Apart from a better organized homepage, they’ve now embraced the community-thought. It’s possible to add users as a friend. Allowing you to follow their photo or video-stream. Yeah, you read that correctly, you can upload video’s to Pinkbike.com. We now have both the Photo-of-the-day (POD) and Video-of-the-day (VOD). I’m glad you still get the chance to comment and rate comments. Badly rated comments now are hidden behind a link. Saves you the annoyance of reading kids shouting their ignorant heads off.

I miss a way to find highest rated photo’s and video’s, also I don’t like it that the pre-select pictures uploaded on today. Usually that means I have to click on “all pictures of this month”. They could have pre-selected showing pictures uploaded since my last visit… huh!

But very good news: we can embed video’s on our websites now, Pinkbike’s gone youTube!

Flatline at Interbike 2007

It’s Interbike in Las Vegas right now, wished I could be there, but I’ve pulled all Flatline pictures and impressions of the big websites for you. I’ll keep adding them as I find them. NSMB.com will be testing one very soon!

4x track to be build in Houffalize

During the Houffalize Worldcup race (xc) next april, we can expect a fourcross-race sometime during that weekend, saturdaynight most likely. They’ve started to build a track there and Phil Saxena (creator of the 4x track in Fort William and who had a big hand in the Willingen track) has allready taken a look at the plans. If it’s going to be a proper UIC-approved track, we’re in for a treat this close to home!

Anneke Beerten: “World cup victory….and the Overall title!!”

Quoted from Annekebeerten.com:

“Last night it was all or nothing for me. I had nothing to lose in this race, I was 40 points behind Jill for the overall title so I knew I had to win from Jill to get this title.
I was feeling pretty good on this track and the first 2 turns were really important. I won my quarter final and also my semifinal…. Jill went out in the semi final. I still had to finish top 3 to take home the overall title. In the final I had Jana, Melissa and Mio on the outside from me in the gate. My gate was good but also Jana and Melissa had good gates.
I was in 3rd coming out of the first turn and I set up the second turn high to maybe make a move. Jana and Melissa were low in the turn and were both unable to do the second turn properly, they both went in a bit to fast, which left a gap for me to use and pass them…after that it just was a big adrenaline ride down to the finish.

I don’t need to tell you that I am extremely happy to end the ’07 season with my 3rd world cup win this season and the world cup overall to go with it!!!”

Congratulations Anneke, it was a long time coming and you deserve it! Next time bring a rainbow jersey on your way home!

Flatline catalog pages

All of you visiting this blog can’t get enough of all the 2008 Rocky Mountain information I’ve posted here. And to satisfy (y)our needs, I’ve found some scans of the 2008 catalog, featuring the Flatline. I’m trying to scan some pages of the Slayer and Flow tomorrow at the bikeshop. It’s good info, and Iike to thank Izegrim for posting them on the Mtb-news.de Rocky Mountain forum.

HOT 2008 Rocky Mountain news (eurobike)

Yesterday I got to take a look at the 2008 Rocky Mountain brochure and the new gamma looks awesome. One thing I noticed right away: NO MORE SWITCH (and no more RMX)! It’s gone and no tears of mine is gonna get it back. If you can get your hands on a 2007 Switch… get it, cherish it and never let it go! But take a look at the Flatline… and the Slayer SS…!

2008 Ghost ERT9000, can you say O-M-G?

I know.. I’m officially sponsored by Rocky Mountain, but when good stuff drops by… I can hardly help myself. Plus I have a certain weekspot for Ghost. They design their bikes in-house, spec ‘em like you’d dream of and sell ‘em for prices you won’t believe it. And I can hear you think… yes… they make an awesome ride too.

Ghost ERT 9000

Only regret is the seattube. It may have ring-setup that’s a bit small and I’d use clipless pedals or at least sexier pedals then these… but yeah…o dear lord! With a claimed weight of 15,3 kg, I can understand why they ship ‘em with Nobby Nic’s ;-)
