I’m testing something I think I broke :( The icon next to ‘Latest Posts’ publishes the wrong feed adres. I’m trying to work this out, but it’s supposed to be: news feed www.bikeblog.nl: http://www.bikeblog.nl/?feed=rss
All posts in Personal
Have you noticed?
There’s things going on here on my blog. Spanking new adres, it’s www.bikeblog.nl from now on. The name ‘Sunday Jen’ will disappear I’m affraid. And there’s the new look ofcourse! For the techies among you: it’s a customized css style for the WordPress theme K2 RC3, based on AdAdvantage. There’s still some tweaking done behind the scene’s, hopefully won’t bother you. And I’ll be adding general bike news in the sidebar in the future. Hope you’ll like my new place!
Great day for riding with great friends

Last saturday we got shouted to a beautifull sunny day. We had planned to go out and ride in Berg en Day, so this was a huge bonus. It had been so long since we last headed out together, can’t remember really… Anyway, the trails where in excellent shape, but we didn’t take that many pictures (ride first).
I’m stoked that I’m going to Winterberg next sunday, Ilja is joining me, Reinier is thinking about it. Don’t think we’ll be that lucky with the weather again, eventhough this picture here looks like another present… fingers crossed.
Groningen 4X track
Yesterday we visited the 4x track in Groningen, for some reason I haven’t been there before and I wanted to see the track before next weeks race. It’s a nice track, starts with a small table and a tiny triple, then some nice stepdowns-to-berm where you pick up good speed. Then a peddly bit and a tight turn, two huge tables that I’m not sure what to do with and a really cool hipjump. I’m hoping to ride with a borrowed Slayer, as the Switch is a bit heavy for this kinda thing.
Weird thing was, after a week of bmx, riding a freeride-fully almosts feels like riding on a defective bike. It took a few runs before I had the feeling back and a had a few very nice runs. They’re building a Slopestyle track. It’s a down-slope with (a few) choises of lines and I’m not sure if I’m going to ride that race. I’d rather focus on having a goof 4x run and having fun.
Stephen Murray Jersey auction (wear your fav’s jersey)
On Peaty’s site I just read a blog post about a mate of his that crashed and got injured badly. He and Nigel Page collected signed jersey’s from the MTB pro’s and they are auctioning them at Fort Bill to help Stephan pay for the monstrous medical bills.
This is your change to do good and get something cool for it in return too! So get your bids into Nige ASAP ………. nigel @ nigelpage.com
I’m too stoked not to write about this
Tonight I had my first bmx training. I bought a cruiser a while ago and now summer-recess is over, it’s time to jump into it. In Apeldoorn there’s a really nice track and I asked if I could join in on the training to see if I’d like it. The first group are the little kids, as young a 5-6 years! And I joined the older group. Among a lot of other very talented riders, two recent worldchamps and little old me! At times I was hanging on by a thread, but the second half of the workout the bike started to make -more- sence to me and the track too. That’s when more fun kicked in, even then I was crunching like a maniac to keep up (or try to), but I liked it lots. The trainer gave a lot of excellent pointers. On how to start, how to place the cranks, your feet, your hand and upper body and how to crank once the gates down. I learned so much and I’m eager to learn so much more. This is cool!
Megavalanche… pour moi au ci
Here it is, the elaborate and final report of a week in Alpe d’Huez to ride the Megavalanche. I promise I won’t mention the Mega (unless with good reason) again for at least 6 months.
This years Mega: Pour moi au ci, the terror, the stuff that broke, the helicopter ride, the pizza’s and much more.
Megavalanche… terror-week part 3, the end.
It’s sunday, I just witnessed the Megavalanche from a spectators view. I didn’t race after a crash yesterday in the qualifier. I was about 10 minutes on my way, good position, well in front with some girls in sight I was going to overtake… when I got run over by a guy that was trying to catch up with his wave and well, his excuse was… “my brakes are dead”. Megavalanche terror-week part 2
It’s friday and we’re getting ready for the qualifiers tomorrow. This week has been awesome, done some great riding and I’ve got the track reasonably dailed. The qualifiers are for the different Mega’s that are being ridden on sunday. There’s the Megavalanche, the best 508 riders of the qualifiers. The Mega Pink, all the women that finished the qualifiers. The Mega Promo, the next 500 best riders and the Mega Affinity. That’s a bit stupid though. All that didn’t finish in the top 1000 will be given the chance to ride the Mevalanche with a chip, but no mass-start. They have to depart between 10.15 and 11.30 and have to pass Alpe d’Huez before 12.30.
For a lot of guys, this means no mass start and no Megavalanche experience! I’d wish they had mentioned this before. It’s a smart set-up but not fair to most riders.
For the girls on the other hand, it’s spectacular! About 60 women are to start, our own qually wave and our own Mega start, between the Megavalanche and Mega Promo in. It’s awesome for us!
No pictures at this moment, more to come!
Megavalanche terror-week part 1
Haven’t been updating for a few days, crazy riding and scarce wifi over here, but I’ve got it now. We arrived on sunday and did a short session on the qualifying track and connecting to the downhill here in Alpe d’ Huez. It’s one of my favorite parts of the track and the qually is by far the best track over here to ride. Our friends arrived sundaynight and we rode together on monday for a full day. Managed to ride most of the qually and the bottomhalf of the Megavalanche.
